MLK Jr. Sr. Ctr. receives donation from the community


Today was an exciting day for the members of the Martin Luther King Jr. Sr. Center in North Las Vegas, Nevada. The Armed Forces Chamber, Pamela Goynes-Brown and Patsy Brown donated walkers and wheelchairs valued at thousands of dollars to several seniors in need. The Martin Luther King Jr. Senior Center serves adults ages (55+) seeking access to services and information to improve, enhance and empower their quality of life. Services offered at the Martin Luther King Jr. Senior Center include but are not limited to: Computer training, Health and fitness classes, Congregate meal program, Health care information/benefit assistance, Transportation and much more. "I will personally deliver a wheelchair and walker to a particular Senior who is bedridden. When I told her about what is being donated to her she just cried, cried, and cried some more." Byron Goynes, General Manager of Martin Luther King Jr. Sr. Center.

Patsy Brown is a proud member of the Armed Forces Chamber. Since 2019, Patsy Brown has sponsored events to benefit local veterans plus their spouses and dependents, Also, Patsy Brown enjoys volunteering at community events benefitting Seniors.

The seniors were grateful to receive brand new walkers and wheelchairs, however, I was more grateful to spend quality time with every one of them." The Armed Forces Chamber of Commerce supports the community through its official charity, the Armed Forces Chamber Community Development Corporation, a 501(c)(3) public charity. The mission is to provide programs, offer services and engage in other activities that promote and support community development of armed forces members plus spouses and dependents. Since 2017, the Armed Forces Chamber Community Development Corporation has donated groceries, furniture, school supplies and Christmas gifts valued at more then $500,000 to local armed forces members plus spouses and dependents.
